Orienteering Hutt Valley Inc.

About

Orienteering Hutt Valley is an orienteering club based in the Hutt Valley part of the Wellington region of New Zealand.

The club was formed in 1976 and currently has around 150 members including some competing on the international stage with great results. The parks, reserves, and regional parks at our doorstep offer wide and varied terrain. Each year the club runs over 20 events and these are a mixture of foot orienteering, rogaine, and mountain bike orienteering (MTBO) events.

Events

Combined with its neighbouring club, Orienteering Wellington, there are usually foot orienteering events in the Wellington region most Sundays from early autumn through to late spring. The club also runs the popular after-work rogaine series monthly from April to November and its annual Big Trig rogaine event later in the year. The after-work rogaines generally have 300–400 attendees each month.

During the year there are events that are part of a "College Sport" or "CSW" foot orienteering series. Everyone is welcome at these events — club members, non-club members, and school students. Adults and school students compete in separate categories at the same event on the same courses. See here for more about Schools Orienteering in the Wellington region.
